Friends of Barnabas LogoFriends of Barnabas

A ministry of encouragement and practical assistance to people in career transition.

“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement)”  Acts 4:36

The Vision

Our vision is to create an international organization that provides job seekers with a more effective way of identifying, and successfully obtaining, new employment while considering their God-given gifts and passions, in addition to experience and education, in the selection of a career field.

The Mission

It is the mission of FOB to develop and/or deliver to the communities in which we operate the following through all available communication media …

·         Training programs that teach job seekers how to correctly identify their optimum career field, how to present themselves with greater impact to employers, and network and interview more effectively.

·         Training programs that teach job seekers new skills required to find work in new career fields.

·         Support for entrepreneurs in the creation of new businesses.

·         Encouragement to job seekers during the lonely and frustrating process of finding new employment.

What about Networking?

Over 80% of the jobs in the market are never advertised.  True or False?
Most jobs are found by networking.  True or false?

That is why you MUST learn how to NETWORK and meet the people who can help you find that next job!

NETWORKING ...

They DON'T teach it in school... not even in college.  You might have learned some of the skills when you went away to college or went off to summer camp, but you probably had no idea WHAT you were learning to do, or WHY it was important.

Someone who tries to network before they understand what it is, what it isn't, and how to do it effectively can become a "pest" to their friends and colleagues.  When you learn how to do it correctly, you enhance these relationships, you don't destroy them.  That is why networking is a very important life skill.  The Friends of Barnabas can help you master this skill.
